I learned a lot about the Japanese language and culture in Aichi University. The courses were adapted to the respective language level and you could also choose from a variety of other courses that would be interesting for you. The teachers gave very understandable and interesting lessons. In addition to the classes, Aichi University offered a lot of opportunities to meet people and take part in activities or take part in projects. The so-called Global Lounge is a meeting place in the university where Japanese and other exchange students meet and help each other with learning a language, with homework or just hanging out and talking to each other. There you can find a lot of new people with whom you can meet outside of the university.
Aichi university also offers a wide range of club activities. From photography, music to sports, everything is included. I joined the handball club and in this way made a lot of new friends and at the same time was able to improve my language skills enormously. The Japanese students also went out with me in the evening or took me on day trips, for example to go skiing. That was really great. I recommend Aichi University for many reasons.
1. The language courses were very easy to understand and the other courses were also very interesting. For example, there was a course on anime and also one on Japanese drama.
2. We have made numerous excursions with the "Traditional Japan" course. We held a tea ceremony, made onigiri, or had karate lessons. These excursions taught you a lot about Japanese culture.
3. The accommodation. We were accommodated in a kind of student residence near the university. You were there on foot in 15 minutes. You had a room which was about 16-18 square meters and cost about 300 € per month. This is a great price by Japanese standards. The location offered other advantages as well. Supermarkets, restaurants and the subway were only 2-3 minutes away on foot. The main train station was only one station away by underground. The center was there too.
4. Aichi University helps and supports wherever it can. The employees of the International Office help in every situation and make you feel like you're not alone. The teachers also try to help where they can.
Advice for Students: Nagoya and Aichi University are a lot of fun for studying there. Nagoya itself is very well located so that you can get to Kyoto or other regions quickly. Tokyo is not too far away either. If you want to go out in the evening, you can do that very well in Nagoya and meet a lot of interesting people to get to know the country, the people and the culture better. Everyday life at the university is very diverse and offers many exciting opportunities and a wide range of learning fields for all interests.
