Bolstering students' ability to comprehend and convey Japanese culture

Developing students' foreign language proficiency and understanding of other cultures have long been valued as tenets of the education involved in cultivating globally aware individuals. At Aichi University, we also believe that furthering students' comprehension of Japan, and furthermore, students' ability to convey Japanese culture to people of a different cultural background is vital. The Sakura 21 Project aims to comprehensively train students in such skills. Tailor made courses designed to systematically deepen students' understanding of Japanese culture and society have been introduced to the faculty curriculum, and our active learning initiative trains students in how to make use of such knowledge through group work and other practical training exercises.
