Students engage in research relating to areas such as constitutional and administrative law, criminal law and political science. As is stated in Aichi University’s founding values, we wish to "cultivate individuals with an international outlook” who can “give back to the local community”. As such, we provide our students with a thorough understanding of law in both international and domestic contexts. Since we were first established, we have produced a large number of law specialists who, among other things, work as university professors, civil servants and tax accountants.

This course takes areas of private law such as civil law and commercial law as its focal point. The faculty’s distinctive guidance and teaching and its fulfilling curriculum seek to improve students’ ability to problem solve, and to apply law-based analysis to real issues. Since our establishment, we have produced a large number of law specialists who, among other things, work as university professors, civil servants and tax accountants.

The Graduate Department of Economics offers students a choice between four different courses.

Contemporary Economics Research Course
By equipping students with the theory needed for economic data analysis, students acquire the skills necessary for conducting economic data analysis at public or private research institutions and think tanks.

Socio-Economic Research Course
Students develop an understanding for how certain economic phenomena come about, studying social systems and related economic theory and history. This helps students go on to develop the skills needed to solve socioeconomic issues relating to the environment, welfare and beyond.

Economic Policy Research Course
Students study the theory of fiscal, economic and public policy, and gain an understanding of how such policy is applied. The course equips students with the necessary specialist skills that can help them to go on and achieve a qualification as a tax or public accountant.

Global Economy Research Course
This course is distinctly international. Focusing on the West, China and Asia in particular, it gives students a theoretical grounding in international economics and develops their ability in a foreign language. The course aims to produce students who go on to work in international companies and NGOs.

For the MA course, we offer two programs. The programs are split into two courses, and candidates must make their preference known when sitting the entrance examination. We also offer a PhD course as well.

Business Administration 
This course aims to produce researchers for the field alongside highly specialized professionals.

Accountancy and Taxation Law 
This course seeks to produce expert accountants.

Students on the day program can take anywhere between 4-5 classes a day. In addition to the core classes on business administration, students may also choose to sit classes in applied subjects or business administration related areas. The Accountancy and Taxation Law course, in addition to offering classes in accountancy and taxation law related areas, offers seminar sessions to students, and graduates of it are exempt from sitting the state tax accountant exam.

The Graduate Department of Chinese Studies is exceedingly distinct. It is the first graduate department in Japan whose research and education is entirely devoted to China. Students in the faculty conduct research not only on China’s society and culture, but also on the societies and cultures of other countries within the sinosphere. This helps equips students with a distinctly global perspective for conducting research on China. Each of the teaching staff offers unique and distinctive classes on their specialist area. Classes and lectures conducted through English and Chinese are also available and there is a distinct emphasis on going beyond classroom theory to conduct actual fieldwork.

Students who study on the Dual Degree Program split their time as a graduate between Aichi University in Japan and one of three overseas choices including Nankai University (Tianjin, China), Renmin University of China (Beijing, China), and Soochow University (Taipei, Taiwan). MA students spend a year and half at one of these overseas destinations, and PhD students one year. Our RMCS system allows students to take part in classes in China and Taiwan through our international video link communication system, with the aim of receiving degrees from two different institutions. We plan on bolstering the number of partner universities, with whom we offer this program in the future.

Language and Communication
The Language and Communication course gives students a choice between two areas of specialism. Students who select the English option develop an advanced command of the language, and a linguistic understanding of it. Meanwhile, the Japanese branch is ideal for students who aim to work in Japanese language education.

International Relations
This course focuses on international relations and international business. Students develop thinking skills that are grounded in the social sciences, and the skills for developing new methodology.

Comparative Cultural Studies
This course educates students in a diverse range of cultures, helping them to develop an outlook that is open to new ideas. Students achieve this through studying cultural anthropology and folklore, and through the design and planning of fieldwork.
