Department of Global Liberal Arts

Enrichening intercultural communication by developing the sensitivity to understand and respect diversity

Could the cultures of all countries worldwide become the same, as have products and services distributed around the world? Being the products of long periods of exposure to their respective countries’ historical, geographical, and climatic influences, cultures do not easily lose their uniqueness. Therefore, communicating with people from other cultural backgrounds requires having the rich sensitivity and highly cultured knowledge that helps understand their culture. The Department of Global Liberal Arts aims to help students acquire the cultured knowledge needed to enrich communication with others in today’s international community by assisting them in developing an understanding of a variety of cultures, both traditional and modern, of countries and regions worldwide, and in doing so, help them to objectively reexamine the true nature of their own country’s culture and language.
