Founded in 1953, the Research Institute of Industry in Chubu District researches the Chubu industrial area. Known particularly for its exports to the world of automobiles and related manufactured goods, the area also includes mountainous regions with a flourishing agricultural and forest products industry.

The Center engages in practical research into the various problems in economic development in this region, viewing industry, the economy and society from a scientific angle. The publications of the research achievements are highly valued in every sector.

TOPICS

The data room has a collection of company histories, municipal newsletters, etc., which are not widely available. It is a valuable source of research material regarding trends in the local area and its industrial transitions. The attached life and industry museum also has a collection of folk pieces from fishing and farming villages in East Mikawa that is utilized by students and scholars and is also available for public exhibition.
